A viscosity result is useful only when its test conditions travel with it. The transfer system needs to handle the intended product, its temperature range and the pressure imposed by the full route.
Define the measurement
Record instrument, test geometry or spindle, speed or shear condition, sample preparation and product temperature. Where these details are missing, label the value as incomplete instead of treating it as a machine-selection limit.
Describe the operating extremes
Include the cold start, steady run and restart after a pause. Keep expected flow range, pipe route, elevation, valves and downstream resistance in the pump brief. The temperature at which a sample was taken may differ from the temperature at the pump inlet.
Trial the connected route
Observe inlet starvation, pressure changes, air pockets and flow stability. A pump demonstration into an open bucket does not reproduce the pressure imposed by the heater and filling equipment. Use the sample trial to identify where feed assistance or a different passage is needed.
